Vesna

Painter of Auriel’s Gate

Vesna, a painter living at the edge of Auriel’s Gate. An NPC for D&D 5e from Irydale.

Backstory

Vesna is a local painter whose atelier clings to the edge of Auriel’s Gate. She seems to be connected to Calienne somehow, many of the Rose Knights seem to know they were secret lovers.

Current drive

Vesna mourns Calienne. Lately she has noticed someone watching her home at night from the hedgerow, never knocking, just watching, and she fears it is one of the knights.

DM knowledge — contains spoilers for the adventure

When Calienne fell ill, she and Vesna enlisted the witch Breyth to capture part of Calienne’s soul in a living portrait, so they might live on together; once Calienne died, her blazing rose was to be fused with the portrait to complete it. When the rose goes missing, the order suspects Vesna, and she flees to Breyth’s glade. Her sketchbook holds a torn charcoal sketch of her stalker: Dame Marwen.

If she survives the adventure, she leaves the village, but not in hiding. Her art begins to appear in distant places. Uses the commoner stat block.
