Dame Marwen

Knight of the Rose

Dame Marwen, a young Rose Knight of Auriel’s Gate, fierce in her devotion to the order and to its fallen champion. An NPC for D&D 5e from Irydale.

Appearance

A young red-haired elf knight in the silver plate of the Rose Knights, her violet eyes bright with fury.

Backstory

Dame Marwen is one of the younger knights of the order. At Dame Calienne’s funeral she struck Calienne’s squire Alric in front of the crowd, drawing blood, and slipped away soon after.

Current drive

Marwen believes Calienne was wronged, and wants someone to answer for it.

DM knowledge — contains spoilers for the adventure

Calienne rejected Marwen, and Marwen became fixated on Vesna, stalking her home. She witnessed the soul-portrait ritual and came to believe Vesna caused Calienne’s death. During the night vigil she used her own blazing rose to put Alric into a magical slumber and stole Calienne’s rose, then took it to the Shrine of Saint Lyssa to ‘inherit her legacy’. The rose burns a hollow in her chest.
